Summary: Young Amleth idolizes his father, leader of a Viking clan, and swears vengeance after watching his uncle kill his father and kidnap his mother before destroying the clan's village. His vow shapes his life -- from becoming a Berserker, to making the journey to Iceland, to enslaving himself -- in pursuit of its fulfillment in tragedy.
