The case of the midnight rustler ; and, the phantom in the mirror / written and read by John R. Erickson.
In "The Case of the Midnight Rustler" someone has been stealing calves from Uncle Johnny's pasture, and it's up to Hank and Slim to stop it. They set up camp in the field just north of the canyon. But before the rustlers even make an appearance, Hank must overcome poisoned weenies, weather a run-in with a larger than life guard dog, and survive a tussle with the coyote brothers. In "The Phantom in the Mirror" Pete the Barncat starts a rumor about a Phantom Dog in the machine shed, and Hank decides he better check it out. And sure enough, when Hank peeks into the shadows, he sees the meanest, toughest, stupidest dog he's ever seen. Hank tries to outwit the Phantom in the Mirror--but each time, the phantom dog matches him step for step. Hank's got to find a way to rid the ranch of this uninvited visitor ... but how?
