The painter's daughter Cover Image Book Book

The painter's daughter

Summary: 1815. Sophie Dupont assists her father in his studio, keeping her own artwork out of sight. Along the north Devon coast, popular with artists and poets, she meets Wesley Overtree, the first man to tell her she's beautiful. Captain Stephen Overtree, home on leave, is sent to find Wesley. He's startled to recognize Sophie from a miniature portrait-- one of Wesley's discarded works. When he realizes Wesley has left her with child, Stephen proposes to save Sophie from scandal. At the family estate of Overtree Hall, Sophie finds herself torn between the father of her child and her growing affection for the husband she barely knows.
